PETA's official blog had and entry yesterday, with parody of the March Madness basketball reference - spinning it as a "mad scientist" angle.
They specifically list sixteen colleges and universities and some details on their animal research.
Nothing new, or overtly threatening - but a fresh attempt none-the-less.
They do post pictures of a few of the researchers, names of the rest and some links to more information.
There is mention in the text about highlighting the entries on a regular basis.
"16 of the nation's most reprehensible, university-funded animal torturers going head-to-head in PETA's first-ever Vivisector of the Week tournament—ladies and gentlemen, meet the March Mad Scientists!!!"- (PETA blog entry)
If you are part of these institutions, or provide services to any of them this could be a good opportunity to refresh staff awareness of the threats animal rights groups can bring. (Eco terrorists in my book). The article itself does not condone any kind of violence or property damage, but the comments get a little pointed.
For some good perspective on the topic, I suggest checking out the Americans for Medical Progress Website.
To read the post - and for a list of the names schools click here.
Sorry for the link - but I try not to perpetuate exposure whenever possible.
As a reminder - use caution when visiting websites or blogs for animal rights and similar organizations. Many of them track entries.
